Kyle Meyer
Astheria. Minimal. And just right.
The goal of Astheria.com is to provide design articles, viewpoints, and resources that are not the same regurgitated, rewritten articles that seem to plague the design blogosphere.
Kyle has two brilliant sites. Astheria (the one I’m reviewing now) and Typesites (previously featured).
And did you see the post by John Arnor G. Lom at Typesites for the International Herald Tribune? Impressive. [... Continue reading ... Astheria

Bart-Jan Verhoef
Subdued.net
You can already tell something gorgeous is coming. Yes? Ohhhh, yes.
So, who is Bart-Jan Verhoef? Well, he’s a web designer totally in love with design. And from the look of his arresting website, he’s bathing in it I’d say.
So, what is Subdued.net? In his own words (without my added drool) …
It’s an online playground and scrapbook where Bart-Jan writes and publishes on the topic of design, web, and whatever else comes to mind. This site, being a personal outlet, is a place of experiment and exploration.
… recently featured in Web Designer magazine)
And he doesn’t just explore, he leads designers through his design process. [... Continue reading ... Bart-Jan Verhoef: Subdued.net

Happy Webbies
It’s now past 4 (and almost 5) under a cloudy Saturday on a Confederates Memorial Day weekend. And here I am. Starting to whinge. Yup, I’m needing a break after working since early on a tedious project of my own choosing. And as the Happy Webbies have been twittering at me like forever, here you go, a Happy Webbie WILDhair. Guaranteed to wipe the whinge right off anyone’s face. [... Continue reading ... A Happy Webbie WILDhair

Web Designer Wall
Ok. Confession time. For design, I’m into simple (but not stripped). And not too simple as I too sighed over joshuaink’s dripping flowers.
So, when I first saw the design of Web Designer Wall it was like ‘AWK! Too much! Too many! Too, TOO!’ But 10,670 subscribers can’t be wrong. Right? And besides, with all those flowers, it’s bound to grow on me, right? You’re absolutely right. [... Continue reading ... Web Designer Wall

Alpha Blog Designs
I never get tired of featuring knowledgeable designers who utilize blogs to put forward their business. It’s just good business.
At Alpha Blog Designs, right there in the welcome she he has: “Here we display our work, and give you the opportunity to hire us. However, we also discuss and share all things design related. Please take the time to read our articles, and comment. We’d like to get to know you.” Pretty straight forward (and one to take note of perhaps?). [... Continue reading ... Alpha Blog Designs

I didn’t feel like working today. I felt even less like going to the Embassy for more pages in my passport. Both are important … but … instead, I flaffed off at Blog Design Blog. [... Continue reading ... TJ Mapes: Breakdown of a modern Web designer

420 Design Blog
Well, it’s Monday morning. Early. And I’ve been up since 4.30ish. A good time to start fulfilling my promise of working through my schizophrenic blogroll.
First up is the beautifully designed 420 Design Blog
From the about:
Our blog (formerly known as the Soapbox) is where we discuss design and how it can help grow your business.
Interesting Posts:
This post is familiar (bless you Creative Business). Why We Don’t Make Speculative Presentations. The public statement is comforting to come across, what with the plethora of sites pushing spec work as the ‘new’ way to go.
And I can’t get enough of the How to Work With a Designer type posts (and this is one of the better ones). Well done. A few designers would do well to read that one too. Noted and bookmarked at delicious.
Oh, and I just have to have this one too – What is design, really? And because I’m greedy, this one – Design as a business priority.
