From the ThirdWay Advertising Blog:
Straight Talk on Advertising from the Client Side. You’ve heard admen, journalists and consumers discuss their likes (and dislikes) about advertisements. But what about brand managers – the folks who actually purchase these ads and witness firsthand their boom or bust? ThirdWays’ Ad Blog gives you the scoop from experienced brand managers on whether the money spent was worthwhile or just a waste.

Check out the ads they’ve reviewed: Accenture, Adidas, Aflac, AIDES, Alka-Seltzer, Allstate, American Airlines, American Express, Ameriquest, Amp’d Mobile, AOL, Apple, Arnold Bakeries, Audi, AXE, Bank of America, Ben & Jerry’s, Bissell, BMW, Budget, Budweiser, Burger King, Carl’s Junior, Carlton Draught, Cingular, Coca-Cola, Colgate, Columbia Sportswear, Commerce Bank, Converse, Dairy Queen, Dasani, Dentyne, Domino’s, Dove, Dyson, eBay, eHarmony, Emerald Nuts, FedEx, Ford, GAP, Gatorade, Geek Squad, General Electric, General Motors, Gillette, GoDaddy, Guiness, Hotels.com, Hummer, IBM, IKEA, iPod, Jeep, JetBlue, Juicy Fruit, Kraft, La Quinta, Lincoln, Lunesta, M&Ms, Major League Baseball, MasterCard, McDonalds, Microsoft, Milk, Miller, Motorola, Mountain Dew, Nestle, Nike, Norelco, Olay, Old Navy, OnStar, Partnership For A Drug-Free America, Pepsi-Cola, Philips, Pizza Hut, Planters, Pringles, Quaker, Saab, Schwab, Scion, Slim Jim, Smith Barney, Sony, Sprint-Nextel, Stanley, Staples, Starbucks, Starburst, Stolichnaya, super bowl xl, TAG, Target, TD Banknorth, Theraflu, Time Warner, Tom’s of Maine, Toyota, Tyco, Tylenol, U.S Army, Universal, USA Networks, Volkswagen, Wal-Mart, Whirlpool, Winterfresh, Wrigley [DEEP BREATH] and Yellow Book … just to name a few.

A taster from the Dyson review
What works: Dyson continues its scientific pitch to men by creating creepy and compelling visuals to accompany the cold hard facts about filter vacuum cleaners. …
What Doesn’t: In spite of the slickness of the execution here, we think Dyson has made a strategic error in conceptualizing this spot. It goes back to the archetype Dyson has created of the vacuum cleaner as power tool rather than home cleaner. …

Beyond Madison Avenue

Beyond Madison Avenue
Beyond Madison Avenue

I came across Beyond Madison Avenue back in early April or so, but as I was leaving to go off-station for a month, I left them for afters.

DWB was mentioned in Beyond Madison Avenue’s post BMA’s Top 25 Advertising blogs – Week 3 where apparently DWB was 13th. I just checked the recent tally and I’ve now slipped to 15th. Sad. I guess that’s what happens when one goes off to have fun. And when DWB is not exactly 100% in the advertising blog market …

From Mack Collier’s post, I feel like a high-tech millionaire with more money than I can spend…., I discovered the gang over at MarketingProfs, Ann Handley, Seth Godin, Harry Joiner, Tom Peters, Eric Kintz, Tig Tillinghast and and and … Mack Collier. Nice one.

From the about:
BMA is your source for all things advertising (and then some). Industry gurus give daily insight and tips into the exciting and constantly changing world of the communication industry. News, gossip and everything in between.

Beyond Madison Avenue is by: Mack Collier, Bob Barnwell, Chris Lovett, Danny Nathan, True, Abbey Janis Dillon, Justin Kaswan, Miguel Hernandez and Jayne Karalow

AdPulp: Daily Juice from the Ad Biz

AdPulp
AdPulp

AdPulp is a great advertising blog, but since there isn’t an ‘about’ – (shame on them, but come to think of it, I didn’t have one either at the time) – for now I’ll share their plug for more gossip.

From the plug:
News Tips: Do you have a story idea or news tip to share? How about a rumor? Some conjecture or commentary? Drop us a note on the tip line.

AdPulp is mostly written by: David Burn, a copywriter, and two other copywriters. My publishing partner Shawn is a jack of all trades–acct. guy, techie and designer (he did the logo!). They all work in the industry.

From the site:
My name is Frederik Samuel, I am an art director/designer. Currently working full time in Toronto, Canada. There are way too many bad ads going around, so i thought we should concentrate on the ones that are great.
