And being back is half the battle …
WHEW! I’m finally back from the UK. ‘Being’ isn’t a bother, but the travel time is. Getting up at 4.30am for the 4 hour ride between Devon and London, then the 12+ hours in the air, each both ways, is tiring. I’m shagged. Totally.
It’s great to be back in sunny WARM Bangkok. Not that it wasn’t enjoyable visiting friends and relatives and eating way too much then way too much again. But, after almost two weeks of the fog and drizzle and cold of Devon, I’m ready for warm on an empty stomach.
After sleeping most of yesterday away, this morning I was wondering how to relax into a DWB post before posting my end-of-the-year-that-was. I checked 9rules to see if their final list was ready to share. They’ve been working hard to get to the bottom of the pile, but nope, it’s not. This round was just too huge. I did discover Revenge of the ‘Z-Lister’ from my bloglines, a nice exchange.
Liz from Successful Blog authors a D-Z List at The Blogging Times so I imagine she’s also quite chuffed to get a nice package of lists pre-prepared.
The list is part of a meme, so here’s the deal:
(I’ve edited the explanation from Mack Collier’s blog)
Simply cut and paste the ENTIRE list below to a post on your blog and add blogs of your own (not those on your entire 300+ bloglines, just your gravy-of-the-month). That’s it. You’ll get a ton of happy bloggers suddenly coming to YOUR blog to thank you, you’ll get a ton of great new blogs to read, you’ll likely get a ton of links yourself, but most of all, you’ll feel good about making a whole lot of other bloggers feel good about themselves.
DWB is all about giving link love so the idea fits in that sense. Also, a number are discussing marketing, advertising, design, business, etc, so they are right down DWB’s target alley. Some are are already on DWB, but by briefly clicking around I’ve discovered Penina’s blog Work, in Plain English, which is a fit for a project I’m working on.
Btw – there are a number of blogs participating so I’ve snatched the alphabetised list from Word Sell to add to.
My (few) additions are:

Thanks for the link – I see a lot to explore here as well. I’m a daily sketchblogger and tickled to be in such company.
Thanks Cat, the next meeting will be Jan3,2007 7.00pm. at the restuarant (to be confirmed again, pls get in touch at my blog for an updates) Welcome if you would like to join.
Elizabeth,
Your blog, woolgathering, is perfect for a feature on DWB after the new year. I’ll contact you for the banner details.
Here’s hoping your voice is back …

I think this is the first time I have seen the Z-list in alphabetical order. Earlier I saw it in small square picture links … nice to see it mutate!
Well, I’m in not so sunny or warm Iowa (US). Bangkok sounds quite nice.
I do want to thank you for the link to Own Your Brand. And this is of course, a wonderful way to discover you and your writing.
Have you checked out Creative Think yet? I suspect you might it.
Keep creating…it freaks people out,
Mike
Hi Cat! Thanks for the link (and for spreading the meme). Great looking site too (I’ve gotcha on my feed list now) Look forward to our future chats on Liz’s Open Mic Night. All the best and Happy New Year!
Many thanks, Cat, for mentioning Flooring The Consumer. Happy 2007!
Thanks for the mention, Cat! I pretend I’m a designer all the time and have a great appreciation for true designers.
:)
Gavin – I was glad to see it over at Word Sell as it makes it a great deal easier to read and add to a list that is alphabetized. For me anyway (not that I’m grumbling on doubling up)
Michael – you are very welcome to the link to Own Your Brand. I haven’t been able to cruise through all yet (still a bit jetlagged) but I’ll be sure to visit Creative Think. As a brander, have you come across Errol’s sites yet? I did a mini review recently –>> http://www.designers-who-blog.com/index.php/archive/branding-branding-2/
Terry – good stuff! I’ve missed the past two Mic Nights at Liz’s but now that I’m back, I’ll be sure to appear for the next one. I’ll keep a look out for a wave in your direction.
C.B. – and a happy 2007 back at you (although after too much festivities already, I’m bound to duck this time around).
Doug – pretend away, sometimes it’s what I feel like I’m doing at times. Btw – excellent article on branding you have there. Errol has opened my eyes up to the complexities of the present situation. Well, so complex they are trying to discover a simple solution. But isn’t that always the truth? The simple is always more difficult to come up with.
Thanks Cat. Great job sorting the list in alphabetical order, with me as the very 1st link!
Merry Xmas and Happy New year.
Hey Aen! Yes, I did notice you up there at the top :-)
I’d like to take credit for sorting the list, but it really goes to Brad Shorr over at Word Sell – http://in-sidemarketing.blogspot.com/
Happy holidays back!
first time I’ve seen the list alpabetized – it’s fun to watch this grow! and find all the new links since it keeps branching out in different directions. Thanks for the link love.
Hey there, thanks for the link post. This list has been amazing, not only providing traffic to some sites, but also as a blogroll resource.
Thanks,
Ron E

Hey Back Ron. I agree with you, it’s a great blogroll resourse. It’s how I found you ( I just love your colours and design)

The Z-list is the embodiment of this quote.
Thanks,

Thanks for leaving the quote Chris. I so agree with you. The Z-list is just that.
Hi Cat,
Don’t know why, I just found out about your blog now. Thank you for the mention in the Z-List.
I love all the banners I saw on your site. Did you make them all? Regards. Luc. :)
Hi Luc,
You are welcome. As I feature Marketing, this seemed the right meme to get involved in.
Banners – I’ve created 99.9% but there are several made by those I feature. It’s always nice to come across those because they can go right up, asap.
