Greg’s blog has a comfortable strangeness (can that be?). Cruising The Art of Greg Oakes reminds me of my own promise to get a little bit strange myself.
Greg doesn’t write very much. He mainly posts his illustrations with a short or extended blurb, then dips back in to answer comments. That’s fine. I enjoy his work as is. There is no void of chatter on the internet, so a bit of quiet interrupted at times is quite fine.

I have a wide range of influences from Bugs Bunny, The Muppets & Mad Magazine to Robert Crumb, Brian Froud & HR Giger. I’m also a huge fan of Jazz music, and the college radio scene … Over the years I’ve created an eclectic mix of print media illustrations and designs (Billboards to Product ID Labels). I’m also a ‘Live Performance Artist’ and have been sketching “Caricatures” (@Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, weddings, company parties, etc.) for approx 15 years.
