When Jonathan sent over two photos to create a banner for Standing Thought, it was like, wow. Nothing like dropping right into DWB’s template, yes?
To make my job easier, he also sent over extra (needed) information.
- I grew up in Baltimore, MD.
- Attended Art school in Washington, DC from 2001 - 2005.
- Currently working as a designer at JDK design in Burlington, VT.
- Started design blogging on standingthought.com May 15th 2007.
- My biggest inspirations are sunshine and kittens.
And if you rush over there right now, you’ll be able to see the beautiful work of Alex Trochut and Hedi Slimane.
Jonathan’s personal work can be found at www.jonathansandridge.com.
Nice, right?

I need to send you my photos, but first I gotta find some that I like. Then I need to finish those interview questions. Bad Lauren! I’m so behind! :(
I liked the image shared on Jonathan’s blog from Alex Trochut. Pretty sweet! And me thinks that Jonathan won’t show his portfolio to us poor IE6 users because all I got was a green triangle thing and when I clicked, it gave me his email address (or maybe that’s the point?). I’ll have to check at home on FF.

Lauren, you gave me the first chuckle of the day with your being behind as I am SO behind too! From my present schedule, it’s going to take me at least six months to catch up. Sigh.
Alex’s stuff is amazing. Yes? As for Jonathan’s portfolio, I believe he closed it down during the time I wrote the post (several weeks ago) and now. Either that, or I’m losing it ;-)

Um, where did the shadow of his hands go?

I believe they got sucked into his sitting body. (just taking a guess here :-)

Surely they should be next to his nose though?

It was awhile since I created this banner so I actually had to go and look.
What I did was butt up the shadow coming from the hands with the shadow from his sitting body.

As it won’t let me put the pics in the comments, here are the two separated.
Praying
Sitting
The shadows fit seamlessly into each other with the help of a mask.

Sweet :) Didn’t realise there was such a gap between the hands and face (the angle I guess). I was pretty sure you wouldn’t make something that belonged on Photoshop Disasters :P
That’s weird about the images in comments thing…
Anywho, I’d never seen Standing Thought before… good collection for gathering inspiration. Shame the portfolio isn’t there anymore.

You’re funny, Kris! You notice all these details because you’re a photographer. I like learning from you :)

Hi there,
I just found this wonderful designer that I wanted to pass to you. She has been in Country Living many times and they are even doing a book on her. The book is going to be out mid Sept. Has anyone heard of Magnolia Pearl?
