Old Man by the RiverThe second time I tried to paint him, I couldn’t. Maybe I need new paint. I carry my paint in a large yellow home depot tool box. Maybe I need a new tool box. Or perhaps its the surface. Yes, the surface is all wrong. I need a new surface to paint his portrait …
One of the best written-by-a-designer personal blogs I’ve ever read.
And who, out of all us, can’t relate?
Once I had that post in my head, I read the whole blog through with the same rhythm. The whole thing. Nicolet is one of those lucky designers who could be a successful writer.
Scanning down her blogroll, I see she’s a fan of Russell Davies. Me too.
My second favourite post on nico (short, so in full):
This way to the martinis. If not for graphic designers, no one would be able to find the bar. Who would have thought… see how important we are!
Go on over there. Read nico for yourself. Ask for more.
From nico:
A delightful gathering of eclectic inspiration befuddled by random parading of higgledy-piggledy writings and personal information I should be keeping to myself.

A quote from Socrates
Well I am certainly wiser than this man. It is only too likely that neither of us has any knowledge to boast of; but he thinks that he knows something which he does not know, whereas I am quite conscious of my ignorance. At any rate it seems that I am wiser than he is to this small extent, that I do not think that I know what I do not know.

This one time, at my house, she let me cut her hair. And then, this other time, at somebody else’s house, some girl told her to never let her friends cut her hair again. And and and, we’re still friends! She’s the awesomest!!!

OH! I do know that one. Years ago I had a similar friend. I had hair so long I could sit on it.
After an evening sharing peppermint schnapps, scissors appeared.
As the schnapps disappeared, so did my hair.
But we stayed friends :-D
