Since you announced the Logo Design Love Awards, I also noticed the lack of decent logos and / or the dependence on the blog name in the header.

I’m just as bad … (there’s no logo on DWB).

Maybe your awards will revive the use of original blog logos? It could happen.

Funny you should mention the Logo Design Love Awards. In the initial rules I stated that there’d be 10-20 logos in each category. Only one has had the full quota, and for the others I went looking for blog logos to add myself. It wasn’t easy finding what I believed to be good quality blog logos. In fact, it was very difficult. The vast majority of blogs use a standard text header, in the automatic font for the blogging platform.

Some of the logo owners have published articles on their blogs, asking for their readers to vote for them, but I’m sure the panel of judges will produce a fairer line-up in the final. ;)

Hey David,

Design tastes are strange that way, yes? I drool through some of the logo books I have here. For instance, ‘Smile in the mind’ really grabs me. But other logo books? Some leave me flat, some are so, so, some are half so.

On the subject of subjectivity – I’m quite enjoying the comments in your Logo Design Love Awards.

There are a handful that I just don’t understand because they don’t do anything for me. But apparently, they are thrilling those leaving comments.

Either they have a LOT of friends posting, or, my tastes run on a different slant from the norm.

I guess we’ll see when it’s all over, yes?
