Welcome to Tuesday. First up this week is a new site, Inspiredology. Discovered via Google Blogs Alert for: graphicdefine.
From the about:
Inspiredology is a new resource that covers everything that inspires us. Most sites show Best of galleries and massive databases of thumbnail sized screen shots of css sites. We are here to give you what our name says, we are here to inspire.
Interesting Posts:
Fifty odd typography samples at We All Love Typography inspire for sure. I recognise some from Veerle’s ‘What is Graphic Design’ poster competition. Do you?
Design is subjective, so I’m always interested in seeing what others see. Like these 120 Brilliant Logos for instance. Different from what David see’s.
Found at Inspiredology:
Daily Type Daily Type is a creative project run by several Russian type designers. Day by day, they create original typefaces and post their results along with routine.

Cat, how cool of you to turn us on to Daily Type. Of course, you’re already on my blogroll, but I had to add that also, to remind myself to check it out every day.
I also posted a comment on Ilovetypography about it. And again with the “of course,” I gave you credit and put a link there to here.

Thanks Stephen. There’s more arriving in the great lineup planned. It comes with the new design of DWB. What with all those drafts that were lost in WP, and the new delicious account, great resources will be making their way to the surface.
Hi Cat,
I’d seen the 120 logo compilation before. Quite hit and miss in my humble opinion, but of course there’s a level of subjectivity, as you say.

Hey David,
Design tastes are strange that way, yes? I drool through some of the logo books I have here. For instance, ‘Smile in the mind’ really grabs me. But other logo books? Some leave me flat, some are so, so, some are half so.
On the subject of subjectivity – I’m quite enjoying the comments in your Logo Design Love Awards.
There are a handful that I just don’t understand because they don’t do anything for me. But apparently, they are thrilling those leaving comments.
Either they have a LOT of friends posting, or, my tastes run on a different slant from the norm.
I guess we’ll see when it’s all over, yes?
Funny you should mention the Logo Design Love Awards. In the initial rules I stated that there’d be 10-20 logos in each category. Only one has had the full quota, and for the others I went looking for blog logos to add myself. It wasn’t easy finding what I believed to be good quality blog logos. In fact, it was very difficult. The vast majority of blogs use a standard text header, in the automatic font for the blogging platform.
Some of the logo owners have published articles on their blogs, asking for their readers to vote for them, but I’m sure the panel of judges will produce a fairer line-up in the final. ;)

Since you announced the Logo Design Love Awards, I also noticed the lack of decent logos and / or the dependence on the blog name in the header.
I’m just as bad … (there’s no logo on DWB).
Maybe your awards will revive the use of original blog logos? It could happen.

You betcha ;-)
It’s certainly giving me a better insight into logos in the blog world. I’ll have to publish my thoughts after the winners are announced.

Me too. And I’ll be looking forward to your views for sure.
