The Creativity of Crowds
CrowdSpring aims to slash the cost of graphic design work–and democratize a snooty business.
snooty |?sno?t?|
arrogant, proud, haughty, conceited, aloof, superior, self-important, disdainful, supercilious, snobbish, snobby, patronizing, condescending, uppity, uppish, high and mighty, la-di-da, stuck-up, hoity-toity, too big for one’s breeches, persnickety, bigheaded and snot-nosed.
Yup, that’s me. I’m one bigheaded la-di-da designer with a hoity-toity arrogance.

Love the comment here – was this you?
investment bankers calling designers snooty? That’s rich…
Forbes is obviously on top of the fact that all we designers do is hit the design button on our weird, exotic “Macintoshes” and out poop their perfect logo/website/whatever.
Forbes should report on how successful it is to let 200 people invest their money for me, and I can pick the return I like the most and the rest of the people leave with no compensation for their work.

No, that one wasn’t mine.
But did you notice how the comments were better than the ad itself?
The down times are on us and Forbes, like everyone else, will need to let people go…
Dear Forbes, may I make a suggestion?
Pretty funny to be called snooty by investment bankers. Anyway, should we really care?

You really have to wonder who the hell wrote this article and said “yea snooty is a good way to describe designers”.
Sites like Crowdspring are only going to serve to devalue designers work.

You have to wonder if they were going for the attention, yes?
Btw – If you want to keep up with the conversation, David Airey’s blog is bristling with excellent comments.
Hey–bottom line, you get what you pay for. If I found a plumber in that fashion I’d be writing from a basement office full of -h-t. :) (pee-uuuu!)
I agree. It’s interesting that investment bankers are complaining about designers being able to make a living. At least the designers are contributing to society ;-).
hey i heard bout it at twitter but don’t get the source of forbes. Let me read this and i’ll be back and comment on it. Thanks for all the other related posts.
