The Mother(s) of all lists – what a mess
Sunday morning woke up to an email from Joe at abstractLatte. A simple request. To please edit his listing here at DWB.
Now, when I changed the design of DWB, I added a few plugins to help out.
So thanks to SRG Clean Archives, I can quick glance through to see what’s been featured and when.
Nope, abstractLatte was not in the archives.
Another thanks goes to ZoC powerblogroll as I now have a page dedicated to my growing blogroll (including descriptions and all).
And there Joe’s abstractLatte sits.
Which brings me to this mess.
When I started Designers who Blog, I spent weeks gathering the best on the Internet to add to my blogroll. To feature later.
As the years went by, when I came across more great blogs, they too went into my now gravid blogroll.
To feature later.
So there they sat. Waiting. And waiting and waiting apparently.
To complicate things further, after featuring a blog I was often lazy when it came to adding them to the blogroll.
So now, I have a schizophrenic site. So now, the blogroll does not reflect what I’ve featured. So now, it’s visa versa.
There’s a plus side to this. I’ve now got material for months ahead. Easy. And scanning through, some are the best of the web. Nice.
But yeah. It’s embarrassing. More so because a year (?) ago I even made a weak attempt at fixing the problem.
But, what I didn’t do back then was create the mother(s) of all lists. Yes. Lists. Not list.
And I now have lists. Both of them.
A list of blogs in my blogroll, still yet to be featured and. And a list of blogs featured, yet not in my blogroll.
What I don’t have is a ton of time, so please bear with me …
(and apologies if any on list a made it erroneously to list b – because it’s bound to happen)
Ah, one more thing … if you’ve been featured on DWB without a personalized banner, please contact me after reading the banner information.

Ah, what a great looking blogroll ;-)
Now it is quite a useful reference for designers looking for design blogs to follow.
I have added your blogroll the list of who is using the plugin.

Thanks Guilherme. And thanks for writing that plugin. It suits my new blog design to a ‘t’ for sure.
And now I can concentrate on getting most everyone in the blogroll instead of just those that fit in my sidebars.
Yes, I know, ‘the powers that be’ say not to have a huge blogroll. But, DWB is about … bloggers. So it defeats my purpose not to share what’s around.
I always say that I see the blogosphere as a huge conversation. I think that what a blogger reads might be as important as what she writes. A blogroll is a powerfull tool to that purpose.
That said, I am always amazed with the amount of blogs you can read!

Indeed! The blogosphere is a huge chat room. Huge on one end, on the other, making the world a smaller place.
As for the blogs I read … I know, I know, there are a ton!
