Designit. What great writing! And WHAT a creative header design (and don’t miss their footer).
AWK! There isn’t an about written for the Designit blog, so I’ll have to do some homework … (gawd, I’m so lazy) …
But Designit the business (the Strategic Design Consultancy) does have an about (excellent).
“Our soul is Scandinavian, our mindset international, our market global. Our design isn’t about beautification, but powerful solutions with long-term competitive edge.”
Searching back to their beginnings, I found this jewel of a post - Innovation - it’s not rocket science!
“Innovation is not rocket science. Nor is it painful. It’s about delivering solutions for us all, consumers, politicians, the environment, businesses. … Transforming a good idea into reality can be painful. But searching for that idea isn’t. Nope. It’s fun. And everyone can play the game. … We need to a more down-to-earth approach. Let’s stop focusing on the rights and wrongs of the innovation process and get down to the nitty-gritty: ideas. Innovation is about transforming ideas into a product or service that the world needs … and having fun while we’re at it. It’s that simple.”
So true, so true …
And then there’s this one, where David Fellah has a NO!SPEC moment with Wasting energy - and time.
- …there were 262 entries in the competition to design the visual identity for COP 15, the international UN climate conference to be held in Copenhagen in 2009.
- … an average of 25 hours has been used to produce each design proposal for the competition … totals 6550 hours.
- … computers and light for one workstation uses about 500-600 W/hour. That’s 3.275 KWh, equaling approx. 3 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
And all to to design the visual identity for COP 15, the international UN climate conference? Shaking head … what was COP 15 thinking? Or, were they, even?

Very cool header. Mine definitely needs a lot of work.
Peter’s last blog post..Is Google Giving Design A Bad Name?
March 25th, 2008 at 2:27 am
Agreed. Designit’s header is certainly eyecatching. Just my opinion (of course) but their writing is on par with Design Observer. Blogging can cut a chunk into work time, so if they can keep it up, I expect them to soar.
Btw - nice blog Peter. Care to expand on your blog name?
(in a feature)

Thanks, Cat!
About the name… I’ve been working on a piece that references both Dracula and Sergei Eisenstein in relation to art history and culture. However, I chose the name mainly because I’m a fan of Eisenstein’s montage theory and it was too convenient that his name looked a lot like Frankenstein’s (my attempt at being clever). Hopefully my header will make more sense as well once that post is up.

Ah, understood … btw - you are in line for a feature, so please let me know when it’s up and I’ll do it then. Unless I totally flaff off and forget and put you up earlier … sooo … care to have a banner here for your post?

Yeah, that sounds great. Can you please shoot me an email to let me know exactly what you’d need (I’m a bit new to this scene)? Thanks.
